The Gospel - In Four Simple Truths
1. We were made for a relationship with God, but sin separates us.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
2. We cannot earn our way back to God.
“There is no one righteous, not even one.” (Romans 3:10)
“By grace you have been saved, through faith… not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
3. Jesus paid for our sins on the cross.
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
“…Christ died for our sins… he was buried… he was raised on the third day.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
4. We receive this gift by responding in faith.
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
“…to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
